They were all laughing at me.
ok, I was at our monthly club meeting and I was showing off the 12 inches of travel I get on my front-end. I aint got no shocks on it and they were all amazed and were sure that something was wrong. Far be it for me to disagree, seeing as how there is probably about 50 years of collective experience with these guys. But, I am pretty sure that the shocks i got will fix that. Out to the garage……
UPDATE
Ha, new shocks up front and a new steering dampener. Damn things rids like a dream (lowered VW Dream).
Bought my wife a vert
Found a vert the other day that had a price tag on it that I could not refuse. I picked it up last night and brought it home. This is a runner. The only thing that is mechanically wrong is the master cylinder went out in it. I purchased a new one today and will put it in tonight so that I can take it for a test drive and check it out. Runs killer. All original, except for the nasty orange color. I will find a way to get that changed. It is originally Mouse Grey. The interior color is original so it should be an easy paint job. Here are some pics of it.
My next set of rims for the Squareback
I know that I am dreamin and all but these would be absolutely perfect for my square.

Its a little rough but I think it can be fixed =)

IPW2200 Wireless and Fedora Core 6
FC6 is great. I had no problem installing it and getting it running on my HP laptop. The one problem I had was with the Intel Pro Wireless BG mini-pci card. It was detected off the bat, but would not come up. After searching and trying all the “you need to update the ieee80211 module”, which would never load properly with the default kernel and the kernel-devel package installed via yum. I found out that all that had to be done was to install the Correct Firmware. Well actually no installation nessarry, just extract the files form the version 3 archive into /lib/firmware. After that I just had to “rmmod ipw2200″ then “modprobe ipw2200″ then let the network config tools do their job. I hope that this will assist anyone else having this problem. Now it is on to get the damn VMWare Server to install. I will post as soon as i get it.
!!!!!!UPDATE!!!!!!
I got VMware Server to compile and install. After reading a bit I found anaconda installed the i586 kernel instead of the i686 and yum installed the i686 headers (Common Problem) after installing the i686 Version I no longer was faced with the module loading problems. Also I had to touch config.h in the include directory as a workaround.
My wife is pissed off at me now!!!
Ok, so I went to my Grandfathers wrecking yard today to pull out a VW engine that I had bought for $100. It was a good deal and I was happy to pull it. It was rainy but I did it anyways. It was fun cause I was able to drive the forklift instead of using a stupid jack. Turned a two man engine move into a one man job. I need to get one of those. HEHEHE. Anyways, when I was done I went to the front counter and was talking with the guys and stuff when I saw this Caddy sitting in the back of the yard. I asked if it was the shops and they said that it was. I then asked if they were selling it. Frank said that I didn’t want that piece of garbage. He was refering to the piece of junk in the front of the yard. I had to explain. He then said that it was expensive. I asked again, HOW MUCH?!?!?!? He then said that it was going to be $1500. I thought about it abit and told him that I would rerun the wiring for all his machines and set them up for that car. He said “OK”. I thought that he was kidding but he wasn’t. So now I have a 1957 Cadillac Sedan Deville with a Caddy 500 big block, factory heat and air, power seats, all the interior is there, fat whitewalls, and more. I told my wife and she was pissed at first but after telling her all that she said that it would be fun to drive and see. I looked it up online and they sold brand new for $5188. Here is a link to check it out. http://www.car-nection.com/yann/Dbas_txt/Phocad57.htm
BadAss Maltese Cross
First off I want to thank Andrew in the Sign Shop for hooking me up with 2 vinyl cutouts for me to use as a stencil. I tried to draw one myself but when my 3 year old daughter said it looked funny I gave up. You Rock Andrew!!
I spent about an hour getting things as straight as I could. I had no more paper so I used one of heather’s “girlie” mags for the overspray. MAN the things they put in there!!!
Then I busted out with the 98 cent walmart special primer and went to town. It was not that easy as i kept getting distracted by the magazine girls looking at me spray paint all over them.
As soon as I got it all evenly covered I let the paint dry a little. (well I was taking a smoke break) I teared off the vinyl without any problems as I did not apply it as well as i would if I was going to keep it there. All in all i think it turned out pretty damn awesome.
Not bad for a Ghetto ride.
New rack for the Ragtop
Here is the picture of the Ragtop that I have been restoring for the last few months. I will detail a little more about it later but I just got back from purchasing this rack this evening and I wanted to see how it looked. I am not all that impressed with it as it looks to high on it. Jenn says it is really nice but I am indecisive. I will have to see it in the light tomorrow.
More Paint
I was going to just run with the primer, but Mike gave me crap about the rusted Headlight buckets in the last pictures so i decided to paint them white. The lenses are a little scratched so the picture makes them look kinda foggy.
With that done I decided to go all out and give it a white center section. What do you think… The overspray and un-even paint has allready been handled. I am just too lazy to take more pictures. tommorow the driver side!!!
